Merry Christmas for Many Churches
December 22, 2016
As we celebrate Christmas and all that it means to believers in Jesus, we also want to celebrate the building of many new churches in Rwanda. Thanks to the sacrificial of giving of people from Florida and Oklahoma, new churches are being built at an unprecedented rate in Rwanda. And these buildings are more than roofs and supports. They are complete structures built with brick and cement complete with doors and windows. In Rwanda, because of availability of materials and local church participation, a church that will seat 300 adults can be built for $10,000.00. Since June of 2016, we have had the privilege of dedicating two of these churches while seeing new church construction begin in the villages of Bicumbi, Bunyagurube, Mageragera, Mbare, Nyabikiri, Ngarama, Ndatemwa, Kavumu, Zoko and Mutete. Five of these churches are now complete and we will be conducting dedication crusades in five of them during January-February of 2017.
The despising devil is cast out!
When a new brick church is constructed in the village, it is said that the despising devil is cast out. That comes from the fact that in many villages pastors and churches who gather in crumbling mud structures are looked down on. In some cases the mud structures have totally collapsed. In one village a struggling pastor, whose church had collapsed, was laughed at and told by the people he didn't have a church and he wasn't even a pastor. One man in the village even tried to have him arrested on bogus charges. However, when the new brick church was under construction, that same man came asking the pastor for a job. And, after the church was completed, it was soon filled with both adults and children. The pastor and church are no longer despised.
This is happening in village after village. (To view slide presentation, click on first picture.)
